Ideas Coming to Life

Fiorentini Roots

Officine Panerai is a brand of watches owned by Compagnie Financiere Richemont S.A. They design, manufacture, market and sell watches under the name Panerai through official dealers as well as company-owned boutiques worldwide. The company was founded in Florence, Italy in 1860. Its headquarters remain in Florence, while its manufacturing center has moved to Neuchatel, Switzerland. Panerai has a long history of reliability, even being used by frogmen (combat divers) in World War II.

Roots Radicals

Giovanni Panerai, an Italian born in 1825, founded Officine Panerai in Florence, Italy in 1860. By the early 20th century, and now under the leadership of Giovanni’s grandson Guido, Panerai had become an official supplier to the Royal Italian Navy, providing not only watches but precision instruments used in navigation as well. For 60 years the company provided watches to the Italian Marina Militare, but ceased in 1993 as the watches were no longer cost-effective and no longer met with naval specifications. In that same year, Officine Panerai began to launch into the civilian market. Thanks to a hefty endorsement from the inimitable Sylvester Stallone, the watches began to see a new surge in popularity.

Panerai has four major lines of watches, Historic, Contemporary, Manifattura and Special Editions. Most are only produced in limited runs, driving up both price and demand. Within the Contemporary line alone, prices fluctuate between $6,000 and $25,000. The wait for a Panerai can be excruciatingly long for consumers.

Getting the Most Out of Your Panerai Watch

The rarity of Panerai watches makes them fast sellers when they come up for sale within our online luxury exchange. Even so, the quality and style of your Panerai watch will have a considerable effect on the watch’s value for securing a pawn loan. For example, the Panerai Luminor Marina is one of the most popular and rarest watches on Earth and can command a premium price when it comes to market.

All Panerai watches are famous for their model variations, and each model will have different features and functionality. The features your watch is equipped with can have as significant an impact on the watch’s desirability and value as the condition of the bezel and the band. In fact, many Panerai owners are not aware of all the features their watch is equipped with, which is why it is advisable to confirm them using the unique PAM number on the watch prior to contacting an online luxury pawn shop. Doing so can give you a better idea of your watch’s value and the size of the pawn shop loan or small business loan you can secure when you use the watch as collateral.

How to Pawn a Panerai Watch

The market value of Panerai watches is highly dependent on the watch’s’ popularity, functionality, and style. The desirability of each style is highly fluid and our team of evaluators can help you ascertain the current value of your watch. Indeed, we recommend clients avoid using older online reviews and sites such as eBay as baselines for determining their watch’s value, as these prices and values are often out of alignment with the real value of the watch.
